Tigers Make a Strong Showing in Game 1

The Tigers won the hit battle 16-15 in their first Cooperstown game, but couldn't push enough runs across to get the win, instead losing 7-6 in six innings to On Deck Swingmen Black.

In his first at bat in Cooperstown, Dalen homered to left field giving the Tigers the early 1-0 lead.  Also in the first inning, Carson doubled to right field and Barry John hit a single to right. Jaden was walked. The three runners were left on base when Joshua flied out.

Barry John pitched four innings for the Tigers.  He pitched a total of 51 pitches, 35 were strikes.  Barry John got one strike out and caught one runner stealing.  He allowed 13 hits and 7 runs.

Bryan pitched one inning, with 15 pitches.  He allowed two hits, one walk, no runs and no strike outs.

The Tigers pushed across one run in both the fourth and sixth.  In the fourth Tigers scored on a single by Jake.

Defensive Notes:
Joshua got two put outs and one assist.  Evan had one assist to third.  Jaden caught two fly balls in centerfield. Carson had one put out.  Dalen had six put outs at first base. Barry John had one assist.  Eddie had three assists throwing to first and caught one fly ball. Bryan had three assists and two put outs, catching a line drive and one out at second.  Drake got one put out

Hitting Summary:
Second inning, Bryan singled to second base.  Jake walked.  Eddie got a line drive single to second base, advancing Bryan to third and Jake to second.  Then Drake singled to right field driving in Bryan, Jake advanced to third and Eddie advanced to second.  Jake scored on an overthrow and Eddie advanced to third on the same throw.  Dalen lined out to centerfield ending the second inning.

Third Inning, Barry John singled with a line drive to second base.  Joshua singled with a fly to right field scoring Barry John.  Evan lined out to first ending the inning.

The top of the fourth, Bryan hit a line drive single to third.  Jake hit a line drive single to centerfield advancing Bryan to second.  Bryan stole third on an overthrow and Jake advanced to second on the same throw.  Bryan scored on an error by shortstop.  Inning ended when Dalen flied out to left field.

Top of the fifth, Barry John singled with a line drive to left field.  Barry John was leading off and got caught in a pickle between first and second.  He was called out on a questionable tag.  Our photos show the opponent tagging and losing control of the ball.  Coach Billy argued the call, but the umpires let the call stand as an out.  Joshua walked.  Evan flied out to centerfield to end the inning.

Top of the six, Jake singled with a ground ball to third base.  Eddie singled to second base, Jake was put out on a fielder's choice.  Eddie stole second.  Drake singled to centerfield, advancing Eddie to third.  Dalen singled with a grounder that got past short stop, scoring Eddie and advancing Drake to second.  Carson flied out to third, ending the game.
